SHC of Rogersville takes added steps to prepare for emergencies

Signature HealthCARE of Rogersville has recently taken several steps to ensure residents at the local nursing home remain safe and secure in the event of an emergency or catastrophic situation.

For starters, several facility staff members have become certified through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA. Central Supply Clerk and Safety Officer Kay Ferrell, Human Resources Director Tammy Davis and Plant Operations Director Terry Clingan have each been certified in FEMA by completing courses covering ‘Incident Command System’ and ‘National Incident Management System.’

SHC of Rogersville also recently received FEMA grant funding for emergency response radios. And, the facility  partnered with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, or TEMA, to participate in a regional emergency preparedness drill on Nov. 20.

“We want to continue learning and be sure we have the best possible emergency management plans in place, to best protect our residents and keep them safe,” said SHC of Rogersville Administrator/CEO Carol Lawson. “With winter weather coming, this is the perfect time to make sure we are able to navigate such an emergency.”
